HTCC: Power up Prime

Took part in the Hasbro Transformer Custom Competition. The first official transformer competition ever held in Malaysia, and the champion will get to display his/her build at Singapore Cybertron Convention, here more info of the competition. HTCC .

Going to build power up prime which base on Josh Nizzi's drawing. Here's some of the progress so far.

Repaint Shattered Glass Rodimus (Completed)

Another commission build, repaint the classic Rodimus into shattered glass Rodimus.

Rodimus is one of my favorite character in Transformers. Influenced from Transformer: The movie. :)

Anyway, here the photo of the completed figure.

Revoltech Optimus Prime (completed)

Been working on this figure for about 2 weeks, i'm slow builder............

Its a Kaiyodo Revoltech figure, commissioned to paint it white with red flame.

Here's the outcome.

WIP: Revoltech Optimus Prime Repaint

Commission repaint on the Revoltech Optimus Prime. Nothing to mod or sand, just masking, i mean a lot of masking.

The repainted head. Using a darker metallic color to contrast the white armor.

I din shot all the progress, here is how the step by step i done. First i prime everything, then i painted a layer of yellowish white, and shade it with black, then follow by white (with few drop of smoke gray). Mask the pattern out, paint it with custom mix red (forgot bout the mixture.) Then mask the armor part, paint with steel color.

I was using masking tape and masking sol, so clean the excess masking sol by dipping the kits in water then brush it. Further touch up on the kits is needed. Stay tuned.

Commission build. Straight forward out-of-box build. Its a MG kits from Bandai.

For the red, i mix with little bit of clear orange. Silver as base, clear orange red on top.

I got this car kits for the X'mas GB, organize in Zero G forums, X'mas GB

The idea of this Group Build is to exchange gift and get the chance to try on other kits which never tried before.

Although i got few car kits, but never actually complete one. Well, this is quite a challenge for me, and also the time frame of this group build is only bout 40 days to finish it. I wasted almost a week............ hope to get this babe done before 30 December 2011.

This kits come in a lot of parts, even have very nice under body details . Stay tuned for more updates.

Start painting, decided red with black for the interior.

Due to some reason, this kits come without decal. Have to use Mustang cobra R decal for the meter, also use metal transfer to add more details.

This is the Diorama Group Build kits for Zero G forums ( more info: Diorama Group Build) also for my GBWC2011 entry.

Synopsis: The Zeon scout team is having routine patrol around the field, and they found some signs of the EF team is walking into the minefield. The leader radio the HQ for status reports, as the driver climbing up on tree to see the consequence of that mobile suit walking blindly.

Special gift from transmy forums to UIP Malaysia GM.

I was honored to given the chance to repaint this kit. Its a leader class optimus prime, first time handling a LC transformer kit, so excited. Ok, here the progress .....

Before painting, i traced the flames design on masking tape.

The combination of red = clear orange + character red + clear red.

The pipe is make out of rubber, after prime it become sticky..... think the thinner had melted it. Need to replace it with plastic rod, stay tuned for more updates.

Removing seam line for this kits. Got plenty of them.....

Lost a part while i assembling it, need to mold and cast. Using crystal mold and epoxy putty.

after fixing it, still need some sanding .....

Painting the skeleton. Paint mix from (gunze shine silver + Gaia star bright duralumin + Gunze Black)

Used long time fixing the spring, should have sand more on the resin parts.....

Major gaps can be seen here. Need to sand the back collar (in red circle) shorter, then bend both collar to fit.

This kit is supplied with 3 LED, but in the manual just mentioned 2 LED, on the fore head camera lens and the eye. Therefore, i decided to add another LED at the back of the head.

Dual Model Kit 02: Bumble Bee

My recent haul. Dual Model kit 02. 1/35 scale, its small compare to Optimus Prime. Come in 13 runners and about 150 parts.

Comparison for the box with RG Zaku.

Slightly higher than RG Gundam.

No moving fingers like Optimus, no decals as well. Despite the small size, this fellow is really full of details. Will snap more photo when free.

Not sure about the scale of this fellow, think its about 1/5 scale. Damn big, its come only the kits, no base, and its in standing pose.

Dual Model Kits 01: Optimus Prime

Bought this last Thursday, 1/35 scale Optimus Prime, first time buying such big size Transformer kits.

Comparison with MG Wing box.

It come in 16 spruce trees, about 220+ parts. Along with a water slide decal sheet.

The kits is very details and sophisticated, it tried to replicate the real movie OP, these pipe around the ribs giving me some hard time.

Had to remove the leg from the body for easier assembling.

Whole sprue only for the hand part.

Full articulate finger...

The con of this kits, it have obvious mold lines, therefore retouch is needed. Especially for those modeller who aim for zero seam lines and mold lines.

Finish snap-fit. Will snap more photo once i free. Here's a snap shot of it.

Fujimi FTO and Tamiya GTO, both are good in fitting, but Tamiya has more parts and details than Fujimi.

FTO is a little bit slimmer than GTO.

Oh, Crab!

Chinese New Year is all about food and ang bao (red packet), also family reunion. Ate a lot during the 1st and 2nd day of CNY, and the 3rd day..... my father bought some crabs for dinner.

Felt bored and nothing to do, so i volunteer for preparing the dish, and my very first time for making crab dish..........

The crab had been stab at the stomach............ then dip in clean water.....

unshelled the crab after washing it.

The internal organs..............really look like alien ........eeewwwwwh.

Cooked with some garlic, it taste really nice.

Hobi Max is a Hobby Magazine in Malaysia. But i never bought any Hobi Max magazine before, after heard some bad comments of it. As i leisure and browsing at book store today, i saw the latest issue and it caught my attention and i bought it without hesitation.

This is the reason i bought it.................. my group effort - Core Fighter Expo. Finally its been published.
The cover MG Zeong is build by one of the core fighter group member, Jeff Ho.
Also the same magazine feature Sammy's HG O Gundam, another modeler from Zero G forums.

Here's my words bout the group effort.
Translation:
I joining this core fighter group build just for fun and trying new things. The best thing about the group build is i can learn something from other members, how they work with scale models, how they plan and execute, and learning is the part which make this build interesting.

Another GB from Zero G forums. This time i use the UC Hard Graph first kits, Zeon Mobile scout set.

Ok, here's the overall layout of the diorama.

The tree will lean to the empty space, point by the red arrow. The size of the diorama is in A4 paper size, 210mm x 297mm.

Comparison again the Dragon's 1/35 figurine head.

The size is definitely not 1/35, i more like 1/48.

The original head seem smaller than the body ......

Replace with dragon 1/35 head

Cut the thumb and readjust it, make it grip the binocular firmly. Observe carefully, left n right hand size is different.... Great job Bandai :p

Bought another resin kits from mgs2u.com, I must say this is very excellent kits, full with details, but the original kits cost too much, only get the recast version from gk.

Yen Xing in Chinese word mean 'flaming star'. Its a mecha from Nagano Mamoru creation, Five Star Stories, more info here http://www.gearsonline.net/fss/mh/yen-xing/yen-xing.html

Misty & wet New Year morning

After the new year count down and enjoy the fireworks at my balcony ........... and watching the OO Gundam movie :P (although i didn't watch the series, but heard nice comment bout this movie, well...... its new for Gundam series, fighting the alien elements) my bf got a call from his photography gang and decide to catch the stars and sunrise of the New Year at Genting highland, our previous visit http://beckylaw.blogspot.com/2010/03/starry-and-misty-night-genting.html

We start the journey around 2 a.m, and reach there around 3 a.m, the mist is so thick and can't see any star, so decided to take a nap in the car, and wait for the sunrise.

This is the shot on 7a.m 1 January 2011.

The sun should be rising at the horizon at this moment, but the mist and fog is so thick, can't even see the sunlight. Oh no.....................

The silo, surrounded by fog and mist. We had to call it off, and head for our 1st breakfast in 2011 :)

Was so eager to capture the first light of 2011, but end up disappointed. Better luck next time. :)

This is my first commission build and also my first PG kits, although i helped a friend fixing PG 00 raiser...... well just part of it only, not whole kits. So, still is my first time :P

Time frame: 2 months
Out of Box, no modding, just build and paint.

PG Wing with paints and materials for the build, all supplied by client.

That's something new to me, a material box............ inside it its screw and nuts, metal feather, LED and wires.......................................and die cast parts...........

Some of you might still remember the movie Independence Day, a 1996 film. One of the famous cut scene, is where Will smith give the Alien a punch before saying :" Welcome to Earth!" Man i love that part.... haha.

Got this kits from a friend's garage sales with very nice price. Now, joining the SMM forums movie mayhem GB with this kits.

Its an old kits from LINDBERG, the fitting is terrible, it don't fit well, and lacking of details, worst of all, the pose of the alien look very dumb.............

Will start on the surgery and post more pic here. Stay tuned.

Just COD with friend and got these resin kits.

2 different kits, and different details, one is smoother and cleaner, other is filled with details. One with base, the other without.

Start with the clean face.............:p

The body is in 2 parts, torso and waist...

The leg as in sanding pose, but its actually bending and in walking pose.

The body came in 1 piece, phew..... easier to assemble.

Its about the scale of 1/6, 12 inch tall.

The submission night is so happening and we had a nice gathering and meetup with friends.

Five Star Stories kits

Another haul of the day...............

Only watched one movie on FSS (Five Star Stories), which i don't understand the content, its kinda blurry which nation against which nation @_@. Well, i done little bit of homework, some info here, http://www.gearsonline.net/fss/ at least now i know Knight Of Gold and LED Mirage are from the same kingdom (AKD). Engage SR1 and SR3 is from same nation.

Here's my collection of FSS kits, all in 1/144 scale and its wave injection kits, no resin at the moment due to my budget.

RX-78GP03s Core Fighter

Planning to finish it by 2 weeks, end up take me one month to complete it. Got terrible experience during airbrush session, i hate Gunze white ......................

Gunze acrylic is so transparent especially the white color, 2 - 3 layer still cannot cover the bottom color.

Dunno is it my mixing ratio or Gunze acrylic take long time to dry?? Even after 2 days the painted surface still sticky and got my finger print all over it.

Need to strip the paint and repaint it, and i repaint the white with Gaianotes.

My third kits with airbrush, still got long way to go..........

Malaysian Army Field Ration

This post is out of topic of this blog :P, well just wanna share....................

I been active in reserved army for more than 5 years, didn't really have the chance to list down all the menus for our Infantry field ration. Because during exercise, we all have the same menu, so can't differentiate them.

Asked one of my reserved army friend to bring some leftover ration, and he gave me 4 packs, Menu A, B and C. This give me the chance to list down and do some googling on field ration.

Although the info there stated its sufficient for 1 day, actually it can last for 2 days. Will explain later.

So, here's how Malaysian field ration look like.....

Come in a plastic with label on the Menu and expiry date, one pack is issue to one person. Let's open and see what inside.......

Come with the instruction, it can even eat without heating, but some taste nicer when its hot.

140g for one small pack, contain 10 small packs(got variety food, list at below), mean its roughly weight 2kg for whole ration.

So for breakfast, can choose either coffee or tea, and biscuit.

Lunch/dinner can have meat or fish or squid, with some vege (up to personal preferences). For me, 1 pack is too much prefer share with my buddy, and some fruits after meal.

Supper, can have some nice sweet porridge.

From the listing and distribution, the ration definitely gonna last 2/3 days for me. If the exercise is more than 3 days, we will get 2 pack of these.

New haul of the day, if you have seen the MS Igloo2 second episode, then you probably recognize this kits. Commander of the Zaku troops, which defeated by E.F.G.F main battle tank.

This is a MG kits, scale 1/100, come with sticker and dry transfer decal. Like the logo very much, a salamander.

With the increasing number of new kits, i really have no idea when i going to finish them all. Typical modeler ................... haih............... no more buying for the coming months. :p

Building this kits for coming competition (Bandai's World Cup), with another 5 members, we will construct a diorama to display Core Fighters, and this GP03 Core fighter will be hanging on a window.

Dream Cast Hi Nu Head

Just receive this kits an hour ago, bought it at MGS2u.com . So excited, i open it and have a look, here's some simple review (or rather glance) for the kits.

Scale 1:35

The box is about the size of my laptop, 14 inch screen. Its heavier than its look.

The clear part.

Decals, spring, manual, cable n LED

Some of resin parts.

Sharp and clean details.

Come with a clear acrylic base.

Very fast glance :) the surface of resin look smooth and clean, hope its a fast build kits. It'll be my first trial on Gundam head.

Another project which will start on next year........ keep building!! :)

Femme Fatale Mechas GB: Gerbera Tetra

This parcel reached 2 days ago, direct from Hong Kong, Super G. Order them here CKtangunpla . A skeleton for GP-04 conversion kits, it actually a skeleton from Bandai's MG freedom. This is my very first time encounter with resin kits.

Details look sharp and nice.

PC part............................

Super G resin is quite crisp and fragile, this part is broken when i open it.

The details of the resin kits is very nice, every details was there, even the sprue mark, light weight and the PC caps can hold the parts well. Offset is, you need glue it, the part is loose, which mean cannot snapfit, but this is just minor problem.

Comparison for the skeleton and 1/144 Gerbera Tetra, this not going to be as easy as i though. Will start it on December, 7 months to build it.

Femme Fatale Mechas GB was started by me in Zero G forums, Gerbera is one of the kits. Stay tuned for the updates.......

Evangelion Neon Genesis, one of my favorite anime, and i'm really glad that they rebuild it.

The first episode, You are (not) Alone, release on 2007.

It took 2 years for the second episode to release, You can (Not) Advance, 2009. But watch it on Feb 2010 at Cinema.

Oops, i did it again.............. another project started.

Boring night so playing with Photoshop and done some 'banner/signature' for the projects i plans to do.

Got the KOG Lachesis for some time, as for the LED Mirage just bought the 10th anniversary edition last few weeks.

Got 2 Gerbera Tetra kits, and thinking of modding one into katoki version. Japanese word read as : gabera tetora, kanji word mean Katoki Hajime.

Well, must finish my pending projects first before start new one.

I really have this problem of finishing my kits.............. gotta force myself then...............

Starry and Misty Night @ Genting

27-28 March- My first star shooting. Joined bunch of guys for the outing. Its raining the time we reach Genting, cold and misty. Can't barely see the sky.

We got bored and decided to play some trick with the mist and street light.

Misty night it was, only can see some twinkling star.

As the wind blow, we got couple hours of clear sky. Its a challenging outing for me, my lens got misty because of the cold and wet surrounding, need to wipe for every picture i take.

We stay there until the morning, witnessed a very beautiful sun rise.

New base for my Gundam

Bought some new base for my Gundams.

Made by Kotobukiya (M.S.G - Modeling Support Goods), its fun to build and u can even modify it to suit ur Gundam. The size is small, can fit 1/144 scale mechas only, dun think MG or > 1/100 scale can fit in it.

Blackberry Cheesecake

Recipe:
Base
1. 3 disgetive biscuit
2. 50g chopped almond

Cream cheese
A
1. 250g Cream cheese
2. 3 egg yolks
3. 100 ml milk
4. 20g plain flour

B
3 egg whites
30g caster sugar

C
3 tbsp Black berry jam

Method:
1. Base: Put biscuit crumbs and chopped almond into 9 paper cups with 4" diameter.

Cream cheese mixture:
2. Beat cream cheese and egg yolk until smooth. Add in milk, plain flour and stir well.

3. Whisk egg whites with caster sugar in a clean mixing bowl until soft peak is formed.

4. Mix whisked egg white into cream cheese mixture in 3 batches. Reserve 5 tbsp of mixture and mix with blueberry jam.

5. Spoon the remaining of mixture into paper cups and follow with blackberry jam. swirl through with spoon for marble effect.

6. Place a bowl of water onto a baking tray. Bake in the preheated oven at 180C for 25 minutes or until cooked. Leave cupcakes to cool in oven with door ajar for 1 hour. Remove.

Everybody hate those reflection on the glass casing, it make the entry kits look blur and out-of-focus. So, i try something with bokeh, now the Gundams look glamorous under the lights.

This is the list of winner and their winning entry, i skipped the Junior category cause there been some mess up during prize giving, some participant absent for the ceremony.

There's some arguments about the result, but i still wish our representative the best of luck.

Sponge cupcake

Bake this cup cake for the gathering tomorrow. First time baking sponge cake, glad it turn out well. Now, hope the guys like it.

Here's recipe on how it's done.

Ingredient:
A) 3 egg yolks
1 whole egg
50g corn oil

B) 50g low protein flour

C) 3 egg whites

D) 50g caster sugar
1g salt

Method:
1) Beat A till well mixed with egg beater
2) Shift B in A mix well.
3) Whisk C till frothy add D and beat till stiff peak.
4) Fold in the egg white mixture to egg yolk in 3 additions, mix till well combine, scope the batter into paper cups till 60% full.
5) Bake in preheated oven at 150'c for about 18-20 min.

Some photo taken by my brother, and he requested my aid on retouch the photo.

The photo was taken in dinning hall, with colorful spotlight around, its hard to get the right WB, and with the high ceiling external flash isn't a big help on this.

Well, his photo is full of noise and blurry. Basically, i reduce the noise, sharpen the photo, and readjust the WB.

Replay MGS4 for the 7th times. Got new emblems.... "Assassin".

Toget this emblem you need to kill/stun over 50 enemies with knife and over 50 CQC holds and below 25 Alerts, well i done it with the help of Stealth suit, whahaha.

But i found a problem, i rmb that the no 15 emblems, little grey will be unlock after i got all the 69 weapons in the game, but i still can't get the emblem..... -_-"

Is there some bug in this game, i try google but can't find any answer..... hmmm....

Was at the LRT platform, on my way home... See this magnificent sunset just in front of me, quickly i grape my studio camera (Nikon D70) and snap. I not familiar with the setting and done some pp and crop the pic to get rid of the unpleasant surrounding.
